Small drone aircraft systems can provide very high-resolution aerial sensor data in a distinctly convenient, unobtrusive, timely and economical fashion. They are best suited for surveying small- to medium-sized areas that are laborious to survey on the ground, but too small to be economical to survey with conventional aircraft. They are further beneficial when features of interest are too small to be detected in conventional aerial or satellite imagery. They are particularly useful for surveying areas that are challenging to access or navigate at ground level, such as wetlands and other rugged environments, and for monitoring sensitive wildlife species and habitats with little to no disturbance.
Data collection and standard processing
droneMetrics provides professional drone-based aerial data collection services at competitive rates. We can collect standard true-colour RGB imagery as well as calibrated narrow-band multispectral imagery (including red-edge & near-infrared), at spatial resolutions down to 1 cm depending on the sensor. From this imagery, we can generate standard photogrammetrically-derived geospatial deliverables, such as seamless georeferenced orthomosaics and digital elevation or surface models (or 3D point clouds), as well as various by-products, such as vegetation index maps (e.g. NDVI) and volumetric/topographical measurements. Our tough, versatile, high-end drone system can be deployed in a variety of environments and also carry custom payloads (up to ~3 kg) for specialized projects.
Advanced analyses and R&D
We set ourselves apart from the many "drone services" outfits sprouting up at present by offering unrivalled value-added data processing and sophisticated analysis capabilities, developed over many years of rigorous work in academia and the remote sensing industry. We can create a wide variety of customized geospatial deliverables tailored to your needs, such as annotated or digitized GIS maps/layers, and perform advanced analyses, such as automated feature detection and image classification using state-of-the-art object-based and deep learning techniques. We can additionally work with pre-existing aerial remote sensing data, including those acquired by conventional aircraft and satellites. We are especially keen on partaking in R&D-driven work and contributing to the publication of scientific literature. Explore the example applications below to get a better sense of what we can offer.
